Storm Hector
After 4 weeks of almost tropical sunshine, yesterday Storm Hector hit the west coast of Scotland, including Islay.
Islay is stunning in the sunshine but has a different type of beauty during a storm like Hector.
Orsay House Bed & Breakfast if fortunate to be located a stones throw from the sea in Portnahaven, with only Orsay and McKenzie islands protecting the bay from the wild Atlantic Ocean. During the storm it looked as if the sea was boiling and waves were crashing onto the two small islands.
Almost as quickly as it came Hector moved on leaving a glorious sunset in Portnahaven.
The only downside to storms like this is the inevitable effects on the ferries from the mainland. Fortunately non of our guests were affected by the disruptions.
